History
Germany was officially a nonstate in 1871. Otto von Bismark came to Germany to help them discover power and unity during that time period. After being assasinated by an Austrian official, Germany became allies with Austria and Turkey in 1914. Three years later in 1917, the United States of America, Britain, France, Russia, Italy and Japan attacked Germany and their new allies. Because of the attack, Germany was forced to pay large reparations, take the blame for wars, and give up about a tenth of their land. In the 1920s, the Great Depression just put Germany in further humiliation and shame. During that stage in German history, a newly elected legislature lead people to believe a democracy was a poor way to run a nation. Germany's stress, embarassment and dissapointment gave Adolf Hitler, Austrian born man, the upper hand on Germany's situation. He and his National Socialist, or Nazi, Party gained the ashamed nation's trust. The day after Hidelburgh died in 1934, Hitler declaied himself the Füher, or leader, of the Third Reich. He soon embroiled Germany in the beginning of World War II. He made allies with Japan and tried to dominate the world. The Nazis occupied most of the country, killing nearly six million Jewish believers. In the year 1945 the United Stated of America and their allies defeated Germany and Japan after they droped a powerful nucular bomb on Japan and Adolf Hitler commited suicide. After World War II Germany split into two regions, East and West Germany. East Germany being controlled by Russia and West being controlled by the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and France. East Germany being a communist government which is when the government tells you what you are going to do, how much you will make, how long you will do it and what goods and services will be provided. West Germany being a demorcratic government, which is different from a communist government. In a demorcratic government the governmnet doesn't tell you what to do, how much you will make, how long you will do it, and what goods and services will be provided. Background

5. What is the economic background of your country and how does your country feel about supporting the economies of weaker countries in the E.U? (economic issue)
Germany does not want to help Greece. When an adult retires from their job in Greece the people get about 95% of their last paycheck. While the Germans only get about 43% of their last paycheck. The Germans don't feel the need to help out the Greek because of the money the Greek recieve and the money the German recieve. While the Greek struggle through some tough times, Germany, a country with more money, will probably not be helping the people of Greece.
